Denise Brillon

Cree / Vancouver

Fashion designer Denise Brillon infuses everything she touches with a sense of history, carefully uniting her mixed heritage into every thread of her designs. Both her mother and father are of Cree descent from Northern Alberta Lesser Slave Lake region, although she grew up in the Northern fishing village of Port Edward, BC.  Her company, Artifaax, has evolved over the years from a successful t-shirt business that manufactured and designed a line of eco t shirts for YVR Airport,  to an established designer who was able to showcase her special Eaglecrowz ball gown and one of her gemstone breastplates on the red carpet at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival in France.  In 2009, her business was recognized at the BC Aboriginal Awards for ‘Outstanding Business Achievement’ for her contribution to youth programs in the Vancouver area. In 2011 and 2012 she produced and created fashion presentations in Alberta and Ontario which focused on bringing together talent from all over Canada.   Brillon’s clothing and jewelry design company is based out of her private studio in Langley City, BC.  Denise believes that when one purchases an Artifaax piece, “they’re investing in culture, in Canada, and in North American peoples.”
