Cedar–Eve Peters is a visual artist currently based in Montreal. She is Anishinabae (Ojibway), from Manitoulin Island and Saugeen First Nation, but born and raised in Toronto. She is a self-taught beader, and her work is often inspired by elements of nature, urban landscapes, my dream-world, and the surreal. Exploring the identities of Indigenous peoples in the 21st century is important to keep tradition alive. The colours she uses are bright but rooted in her ancestor’s knowledge. Creating high visibility jewelry, working intuitively and with random patterns are what makes her beadwork unique.
