Melanie Egan, Harbourfront Centre
DIRECTOR, CRAFT & DESIGN
Melanie Egan is a senior arts administrator with over 25 years of experience in the field of craft and design. She is Director of Craft & Design at Harbourfront Centre; Canada’s foremost artist-in-residency devoted to ceramics, glass, textiles, jewellery and design. She is a curator, organizes events, lectures, writes, advocates and volunteers within the field.
She edited Crafting New Traditions: Canadian Innovators and Influences – published by the Canadian History Museum and curated STUFF: Ingenuity and Critique – Contemporary Danish craft as part of Harbourfront Centre’s memorable SUPERDANISH Festival.
She sits on the Editorial Advisory at Craft Ontario; was a board Trustee at the Textile Museum of Canada and was a founding board member of SKETCH – Working Arts for Homeless and Street-involved Youth.
She is part of the curatorial partnership, McClure & Egan.
