Reena Larabee is Anishnaabekwe. She grew up in Hymers, a small village just outside of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Her family is from Lac Des Mille Lacs First Nation, Ontario. Despite being part of the 60’s scoop, Reena has always been strongly connected to the land. She was raised with biological siblings and a loving adoptive family. She is self-taught in the Ojibwe floral beadwork style, giving credit to blood memory passed down by her ancestors. Reena’s style places emphasis on symmetry and blends contemporary and traditional woodland themes.
